Cocker Spaniel Picture
In a Cocker Spaniel picture, you’ll see a strong, sturdy and well-balanced sporting dog of a medium size. The Cocker Spaniel is the smallest of all spaniels and all Sporting dog breeds. The average height of these dogs is 14-15 inches at the withers; they weigh from 18 to 28 pounds. The head of the Cocker Spaniel is chiseled and refined; the stop is abrupt. He muzzle is broad, with square jaws and hanging upper lip. Like all spaniels, the Cocker Spaniel has long hanging ears and large dark-colored eyes with an intelligent expression.
One of the main hallmarks of the breed is its luxuriously thick coat. In any Cocker Spaniel picture, you can see that the coat on the head is short; on the body, it’s of a medium length; and on the abdomen, chest, and legs, it’s profusely feathered. Long feathers almost reach to the ground. The coat should be silky, flat, or slightly wavy.
Cocker Spaniel picture galleries feature purebred dogs in various coat colors and patterns. The most common colors are solid buff and black. Any other solid color from light cream to dark red is accepted in this breed. Solid colored dogs should be of a uniform shade, with lighter feathering permissible. Small white spots are allowed on the chest or throat only. Tan points in solid colored dogs, if any, should be located over the eyes, on the cheeks, on the inside of the ears, on all legs or feet, under the tail, and optionally on the chest. Parti-colored dogs come in two or three colors, one of which is white. Roan and merle patterns are rare in this breed.
Besides their attractive appearance, Cocker Spaniels are praised for their wonderful personality. Originated as gun dogs, they are respectful of the master’s authority, intelligent, devoted, and faithful. Most Cocker Spaniels are lively and playful. These friendly dogs make excellent family companions for active families and loving therapy dogs for the disabled. Dogs of this breed have plenty of stamina and need an outlet to their energy. In Cocker Spaniel picture galleries, many dogs are featured while running or jumping.
